A Walk in the Park

My friend Gabby and I constantly moan about how much we miss countryside walks at home with our doggies whilst were away, so when Gabby's parents went away for two weeks and  needed a dog sitter Gabby jumped at the chance.

We planned on just a coffee in one of the dog friendly cafe's in Royal William Yard, as we glanced over towards Mount Edgcumbe, it looked so Autumnly (not a real word, probably) idilic we couldn't resist hoping on the ferry and going for a stroll. 

The pub next to the ferry called out to us after our two hour walk around the park,  so delicious crab sandwiches and cider were a must. 

Kitley House

Back in Plymouth for my final year of University, I have been reunited with my gal pal Helena and after a long summer break we had lots of catching up to do. 

A walk in the countryside and a fancy afternoon tea was just the ticket.

Le Bistrot Pierre

We have finished our second year of university, and a celebration is definitely in order. Me and my best friends from university decided to get dressed up and head down to The Royal William Yard for dinner and drinks to celebrate our hard work, before the chaos and craziness of a night out on North Hill. 

The weather was glorious, so I took my big camera to take some shots at my favourite spot in the yard...

What can I say, Sarah has missed her calling...

I would just like to take a moment to admire my beautiful friend... 

seriously... WOWSA!!!

We trotted around the corner to Le Bistrot Pierre for their student two course saver special. This includes a starter and a main for £13... one of the mains is a steak, which had got my tastebuds going. 

Time for some much needed celebratory wine... *Clink*

We laughed, chatted and gossiped. For the first time in months we didn't talk about University work, it was beautifully refreshing - as was the wine. 

Some food may be a good idea too... Heart shaped bread snaps.

I had the calamari with tasty garlic mayonnaise to start...

And for the main event, a succulent steak with a peppercorn butter... I could barely control my saliva.

It was fantastic, a real bargain for such delicious food.

The company was pretty great too.

Now to party and celebrate on the town, needless to say the rest of the evening wasn't quite so civilised!!

Saltram House

My second year of university is complete, and after six weeks of essay writing it was finally time to unwind and escape campus. The English department had organised a visit to Saltram House: so Alice, Sarah and myself signed ourselves up for a bit of culture.

We were given tours by experienced guides who told us stories and anecdotes about the family that had lived here. 

The rooms were all so grand and beautiful, it was difficult to imagine how it would be to live in a house like this... I mean really who needs 4 sitting rooms and 2 dining rooms?

Climbing the stairs in the hallway made us get into character... delicate steps, and our shoulders pulled back. 

Sarah however, got so caught up in the role and fell up the stairs... I don't think we are ready to be ladies of the manor just yet...

We then arrived at a literature students favourite room... The Library.

Now the formal and guided part of the tour was over we were then unleashed to explore the grounds and exterior buildings ourselves.

I used the word 'unleashed', because after 2 months of being locked away in the library and our houses, we did seem to go a little mad...

Off we went to explore the beautiful gardens...

We went to the greenhouse, which reminded us of the 'Sound of Music'...

So naturally we tried out the acoustics...
